  16. LIGHTHOUSE DESIGN ACQUIRES XANTHUS INTERNATIONAL AB's ENTIRE
  17. PRODUCT LINE FOR NEXTSTEP AND OPENSTEP

  19. July 27, 1995 - SAN MATEO, CA - Lighthouse Design, Ltd. today
  20. announced it has finalized the acquisition of Xanthus International
  21. AB's entire line of NEXTSTEP technology. The announcement is the
  22. third in a string of technology acquisitions for Lighthouse, further
  23. consolidating the firm's position as the definitive supplier of
  24. object applications for the NEXTSTEP and OpenStep environments.

  26. Under the terms of the deal, Lighthouse has also acquired the OOE
  27. (Open Object Embedding) technology for linking and embedding. The
  28. OOE specification remains in the public domain. Lighthouse plans
  29. to incorporate OOE support in future releases of its products for
  30. business and technical professionals, and to further promote the
  31. standard to its customers and industry partners. In addition, the
  32. company plans on extending OOE to provide linking and embedding
  33. support across multiple platforms.

  38. next-generation linking and embedding to our shrink wrap solutions,

  40. integration in their mission-critical products. This creates yet
  41. another business advantage for objects over traditional PC and Unix
  42. environments, and provides a compelling reason for customers
  43. considering object solutions to select NEXTSTEP and OpenStep."

  54. or object frameworks included in the acquisition. However, the firm
  55. will make announcements regarding several developer products at
  56. Object World San Francisco, being held at the Moscone Center,
  57. August, 15-17 1995. Lighthouse products will be on display in its
  58. booth, #1036.
